The Alcorn Central Golden Bears used a 28-point second quarter to take a 67-47 victory over the Adamsville Cardinals on Friday.
Senior guard Landon Smith led the Cardinals with 24 points. Drake Carbb scored 13.
Adamsville led early 15-11 after a 12-4 run, capped by a Smith jump shot off an Alex Crane assist with 1:27 left in the first quarter.
They took a 17-14 lead on a Crabb layup with 14 seconds left in the opening frame.
Crabb hit a shot to open the second quarter at the 7:14 mark and give Adamsville its largest lead at 19-14.
From there, the Golden Bears went on an 18-2 run, capped by a Keagan Hicks jump shot with 3:34 left in the first half to give Alcorn Central a 32-21 lead.
The Cardinals got within 34-25 on a Smith layup off a Bowles assist with 2:05 left in the first half.
Alcorn Central finished the half with a 6-0 run to take a 42-27 lead into the half.
Smith opened the second half with four straight points, the last two off another Bowles assist to cut the Golden Bears lead to 42-31 with 6:36 left in the third.
Adamsville got as close as 60-46 on a Crabb 3-pointer with 5:41 left to play.
Hicks led Alcorn Central with 18 points. Alex Moore scored 17 for the Golden Bears and Jacob Tucker added 12.
Adamsville travels to Hardin County on Monday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
