The annual Selmer Christmas parade will being lining up in the Selmer City Park at 4 p.m. Dec. 6.
“We have floats, vehicles and fire trucks,” Heather Gray with Selmer Parks and Recreation said. “Anyone else who wants to participate is welcome.
“We have our forms here at the center and they can stop by here and sign up. They can call us at 731-645-3866 and we can email them the form.”
Forms are due at the Selmer Civic Center by Dec. 4.
“We usually allow late entries, but they will fall in line at the end of the parade,” Gray said.
Participation fee for the parade is toy donation to the Carl Perkins Center.
The December to Remember Christmas celebration starts with crafts 1 p.m. at the Selmer Farmers Market.
Carriage rides and a Christmas movie also begin 1 p.m. at the Latta Building.
The Selmer Academy of Dance performs at 2 p.m. and live music starts at 3 p.m.
The annual Christmas tree lighting is at 5 p.m.
Bethel Springs will not be holding its annual Christmas parade and celebration.
“This will be the first year we haven't done one,” Bethel Springs city manager Deborah Sullivan said. “In lieu of everything that is going on, I think maybe we need to be still until next year.”
Adamsville also opted to cancel Christmas in the Park this year.
“With COVID cases still on the rise, we feel like this is the best decision to keep our community safe,” Adamsville city manager Kara Hill said.
