The McNairy Central Bobcats took on the undefeated Trinity Christian Academy Lions on Tuesday, April 19.  In a tight game, TCA continued their winning streak with a final score of 2-1, setting a 9-0 season.

The score at the half was 2-0 until Nathan Howell stole the ball from TCA and went one-on-one with the keeper for a goal.

“This game was all about passing,” said Coach Nick Cook. “The win could have easily gone to either side as both teams played extremely well. It looked more like a college match than most games that take place in our district.”

“Nathan Howell and Dakota Chandler both kept the defense under a lot of pressure.”

Josh Court tied a previous record with 37 defensive stops, and Goalkeeper Christian Shipman made 6 saves out of 8 shots on goal.

In the game on the road against the Madison Academic Mustangs last Thursday the Bobcats endured their third loss of the season, 5-2.

“We didn’t play well at all and it really cost us against this good team.”

Nathan Howell scored the two goals with penalty kicks early in the game.  Christian Shipman defended the goal with 7 defensive stops and 13 saves.

“Shipman was doing everything he could to stop the flood. The mud and blood on his jersey told the whole story.”

With the losses, McNairy had an overall record of 5-3 with upcoming games against Adamsville and Jackson Central Merry.
