The Princeton Review has named Union University and the University of Tennessee at Martin as among the best colleges in the Southeast.
They are among 135 schools included in the “Best of the Southeast” feature on its website.
This is a section of the Review’s feature “2012 Colleges: Region by Region.”
The schools were identified based upon data collected from them and from student response surveys.
Rankings are based upon academic rigor, admissions selectivity, amount of financial aid and student satisfaction with it, fire safety, quality of life, a rating of how “green” the school is and ACT/SAT scores.
“We are honored to have been recognized for the ninth consecutive year,” said Dr. Tom Rakes, University Chancellor. “It is nice when external groups acknowledge the quality and value offered through the hard work of our faculty and staff. We are particularly heartened by the fact that a portion of this recognition is based upon student input, which is ultimately our most important factor in determining program quality. The UT Martin McNairy County Center/Selmer is important in extending UT Martin’s reach in the region.”
Union President David S. Dockery stated, “To be included once again among the prestigious list of institutions identified as the Best in the Southeast by The Princeton Review speaks volumes about the quality of Union’s faculty, staff and academic programs. I congratulate the entire Union community on this special recognition.”
“We’re pleased to recommend Union University to users of our site as one of the best schools to earn their undergrad degree. We chose it and the other terrific institutions we name as ‘regional best’ colleges mainly for their excellent academic programs,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s senior vice president of publishing.
Other area schools making the list are Christian Brothers University, Rhodes College, Vanderbilt University, Middle State Tennessee University, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the University of Mississippi.
