TDOT has awarded bids for the resurfacing of a portion of Business 64 in Selmer near the railroad tracks. The $1.8 million bid by Standard Construction Company, Inc. was accepted according to Nichole Lawrence, a Community Relations Officer for TDOT’s West Tennessee Office in Jackson.
Construction is scheduled to start around Sept. 1 and last for about 6 weeks, according to Dade Hunt, Vice-President of Standard Construction. The repaving will be about a tenth of a mile in either direction of the railroad tracks. Two miles were resurfaced in both directions from this work in 2009. Standard Construction is headquartered in Germantown, Tenn.
Repaving of Highway 45 from the Mississippi state line 4.3 miles north nearly to Eastview was completed recently. The $1.4 million project, also done by Standard Construction, began in April and concluded on June 21, Lawrence said.
The remaining 7.4 miles of Highway 45 from just south of Eastview to Selmer is on next year’s resurfacing list, Lawrence said.
