Survivor Celebration...Round Two

McNairy County’s Relay for Life will host a survivor celebration on Saturday, August 27, at McNairy County Courthouse with survivor registration beginning at 6:30 p.m. Luminaries purchased in honor or memory of cancer victims will line Court Square and will be lit at dusk.

This event was originally scheduled during Relay for Life in May, but due to storm warnings and heavy rain had to be postponed. All cancer survivors, care-takers, family members, and friends are encouraged to attend. There will be entertainment and food throughout the evening and will include the survivors victory walk around Court Square.

“Everyone was discouraged the night of Relay because the weather didn’t cooperate and the survivor celebration had to be postponed but we are looking forward to a good crowd at this event to help us celebrate the “survivors”, says Sandra Whitten, Relay co-chair.

Sandy Tucker, Relay’s other co-chair, states, “Today in Tennessee, 91 people will be diagnosed with cancer. All of them can find answers to their questions by contacting the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 or at cancer.org. Sandra and I want to thank everyone for their support of Relay for Life.”

For more information, contact Sandy or Sandra at 632-1255.
