Sunrise: Overcoming Adversity

Ages ago a man who was in the midst of suffering said, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.” In his book of poetry ‘Poems of Promise’, Thomas Holland had this to say about this topic:
I walked life’s road with Pleasure
And heard her giddy sounds But among her myriad offerings Valid purpose was nowhere found.
I struggled life’s road with sorrow, She spoke with muffled groan,
But God and friends she brought me And I never walk alone.
Adversity allows one to see of what they are made. Suffering has been compared to purifying gold, (1 Peter 1:7) Job made a similar comparison when he said, “When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold,” (23:10). We can find peace and feel healed again if we are willing to take the master physician’s prescription. It may indeed involve walking with adversity. Yet allowing counsel with the inspired word will give immense blessing if we are willing to take the prescript.
You will find who your friends are in your time of struggle, (Prov. 17:17). It will also help you to submit your will to Him who saves, (James 4:7) and give your care to Jehovah, (1 Pet. 5:7). Paul was a man who understood (2 Cor. 4:8-9; Phil. 4:12-13). Phil. 4:8, Meditate on these… This is Sunrise.
