Chester County Back to School Football Jamboree

Chester County High School will play host the their annual Back to School Football Jamboree Friday, August 12.

The jamboree will include eight area teams, including Adamsville High School who plays Jackson Christian School at 7 p.m. Games will begin at 6:30 p.m. and game duration will be two quarters.

Gates will open at 5:45 p.m. and gate admissions will be $5. Tickets can be purchased from AHS Coach Brandon Gray, or any Cardinal Football representative as well. If tickets are purchased from the Cardinal Football team, the team will keep a portion of the proceeds.


Sports Plus Jamboree held in Dyer

Sports Plus Rehab Centers are proud to announce that the 19th annual Sports Plus Jamboree will be held at Gibson County High School in Dyer for the second year.  The date is Friday, August 12 at 7 p.m.   There will be four games with local matches.

Game 1: University School of Jackson vs Liberty

Game 2: Northside vs McNairy

Game 3: Trinity Christian Academy vs Southside

Game 4: Gibson County vs Jackson Central Merry

Tickets can be purchased for $5 from participating schools or $7 at the gate.

Each school will receive proceeds from their own pre-sale.  $1 out of each ticket sold at the gate goes into a fund for injured athletes and the rest is divided equally among the participating schools.

Baseball Tryout and Hitting Camp

Coast to Coast Baseball is inviting local players (ages 10-18) to a tryout and instructional hitting camp August 13-14.

Two separate tryouts will be held, one at Christian Brothers University in Memphis on Saturday, August 3 beginning at 10 a.m. The hitting camp will begin at 2 p.m. The other will be held at Next Level Baseball in Nashville on Sunday, August 14 at 10 a.m. The hitting camp will begin at 2 p.m.

Players accepted to the program may choose to represent the USA in competition in Puerto Rico or work with top college coaches and pro scouts at camps held at Florida or Arizona Camp & Showcase events held at a MLB spring-training complex.

Adamsville Fall Sports Signups

Adamsville Junior Pro Football signups will run through Aug. 16 for age groups 7-9 and 10-12. 

Tryouts and weigh-ins are scheduled for Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Adamsville City Park. 

Adamsville Junior Pro Cheerleading signups will run through Aug. 19. 

Adamsville Parks and Recreation Soccer sign-ups will run through Aug. 20. 

Tryouts will be on Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Adamsville soccer field behind Adamsville Elementary.

Selmer Fall Sports Signups

The Selmer Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking signups for softball, soccer, and basketball.

Soccer and softball will begin in September and the deadline to sign up is Aug. 29. The deadline for basketball signups is Oct. 31.

Register during regular business hours, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturday from from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Selmer Community Center.


Basketball by the Book

Basketball by the Book will be held at Unity Baptist Church in Ramer on Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m for boys and girls in grades two through six.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. It will be led by Steve Forsythe and Meribeth Boehler. 

There will also be a cheerleading session led by Rhonda Rhodes. Lunch will be provided.

USGA Mixed Team National Championship

The United States Golf Association will hold the first annual U.S. Mixed Team National Championship Sept. 23-25 at Pickwick Landing State Park Golf Course. 

The field will be limited to 40 teams, and to compete in the event you must be a US Couples Golf Association member and above the age of 18 to enter.

The competition will be flighted so all competitors have a fair opportunity to finish “in the money.” Prizes include $200 per team in gifts and over $10,000 in prizes.

Show your Cardinal spirit by purchasing an “I AM A CARDINAL” t-shirt and wear it to the first home football game August 26. 

T-shirts will be sold for $12 and will be available in adult and youth sizes.
