Root to be new AHS basketball coach

Adamsville High School announced early Tuesday afternoon that Nathaniel Root will be the new head basketball coach for the school.

Root is the son of Nona and George Root Jr. His jersey, #32, was retired at Adamsville High School in 2004.

He was elected All-Region twice in his high school career, and in his senior year the Cardinals advanced to the state quarterfinals with a 21-and-4 record.

Root will replace Principal Greg Martin as coach, who returned to his role as boys’ basketball coach last year after Coach Chad Austin resigned due to health issues before the start of the season.
