Selmer 11-12 Year Old All-Stars  Finish third at State tourney

Selmer’s 11 and 12-year-old all-stars made it to the semi-finals of the 2011 Dixie Youth Majors State Tournament, and finished in third place last Wednesday after falling 5-4 to Madison Central at Lion’s Club Field in Bolivar, Tenn.

Selmer went 3-2 in the tournament with wins over Haywood County 15-0, Adamsville 8-3, and Madison South 16-6 . Selmer’s two losses both came against Madison Central.

Adamsville and Ramer’s all-stars also represented McNairy County well in the state tournament.

Ramer went 1-2 in their competitions defeating Lexington 7-3, but falling to Crockett County in the opening round 6-5, and later to Bolivar 5-1.

Adamsville finished the tournament 3-2 with wins over Madison Central 6-2, Parkwood 12-2, and Crockett County 4-3.  Adamsville’s first loss occurred against Selmer in the second round, and finally to Madison South 11-7 last Tuesday.

Madison South was the eventual 2011 Dixie Youth Majors Champion beating Madison Central in the championship game.
