McNairy County’s Relay for Life will host a survivor celebration on Saturday, August 27, at McNairy County Courthouse with survivor registration beginning at 6:30 p.m. Luminaries purchased in honor or memory of cancer victims will line Court Square and will be lit at dusk.

In my office I have a plaque that reads “my passion is old things; people, places or things”. My family has often said if it is not old I have no use for it. Well I am not quite that bad but I do have a passion for anything old. That passion is shared by a friend who has been a resident of McNairy County Health Care Center.

Wilma Plunk Barnes was born July 2, 1931 to Jessie and Tony Plunk, the oldest of four children. At a very young age she married the love of her life, James Ray Smith. Their home was blessed with two boys, Ricky and Larry Smith. Unfortunately James died when the boys were very young.
