Ramer advances to World Series

Ramer’s 14-year-old All Stars celebrate with their state championship trophy. The team, which staged an amazing run to the finals from the looser bracket in the state finals to take the title, now heads to South Carolina to compete in the World Series.

The Ramer 14-year-old All Stars pack their bags for Buford, South Carolina as they advance to the World Series to represent the state of Tennessee on July 30.

“They have played their hearts out,” said Coach Tracy Northcutt. “These boys set a goal. They set out to accomplish district, and then state, and now they have the World Series.”

The team came out of the loser’s bracket and beat Madison Central twice on July 20 14-3 and 13-10 to claim State Championship.

“It was just indescribable,” said Northcutt, not finding the words to express how much it meant to be the champions.

Not only have the players worked hard, but the parents and coaches of the Ramer All Stars have sacrificed time and effort to build an upstanding group of young men.

Coach Van McMahan is the General Sessions Judge in McNairy County and has practiced law as an attorney for about 10 years. Coach Northcutt works three jobs
and still finds the time to
direct and assist these boys to the World Series.

“I tell them to give 110 percent,” said Northcutt. “Not just for yourself, but for your team. Every one of them needs to be recognized. They’re doing their job.”

The Ramer All-Stars roster includes Jacob Northcutt, Peyton McMahan, Clay Dancer, Tyler Steen, Jonathan Nixon, Kirby Tacker, Bryson Cass, Cole Tomlin, Tyler Smith, and Hunter Dickey. They are coached by Tracy Northcutt, Van McMahan, and Jacob Dowty.

Ramer will become team Tennessee in the World Series and will face team North Carolina for their first match. If they win, team Tennessee will play the winner of Florida and Texas on July 31 as they travel 10 hours and approximately 600 miles away to represent their hometown.
