Notice is hereby given by the McNairy County Election Commission of an election for the City of Michie to be held on August 29, 2015, for the purpose of electing:

1 MAYOR - 4 YEAR TERM

2 ALDERMEN - FOUR YEAR TERM

QUALIFYING DEADLINE: May 21, 2015

The last day to qualify for this election is Thursday May 21, at 12:00 noon. All qualifying petitions must be obtained from and filed with the McNairy County Election Commission and must contain at least 25 signatures, with full address of registered voters eligible to vote in this election. Withdrawal deadline is Thursday, May 28 at 12:00 noon. Withdrawals must be in writing and signed by the candidate. No "write-in candidates" are counted on the ballot unless the write-in candidate registers intent with the McNairy County Election Commission 50 days prior to the election.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:

The last day to register to vote in this election is July 29, 2015. Only residents of the City of Michie are eligible to register and vote in this election. You may register to vote at the McNairy County Election Commission during regular office hours. Voters who use "by-mail" forms to register are required to vote in person the first time they vote. Registrations by mail forms must be postmarked July 29 to be processed for this election. Registrations postmarked after July 29 will be held and processed after this election.

ADDRESS OR NAME CHANGE DEADLINE:

Voters who are already registered to vote in McNairy County may change their address or name by sending in their old registration card with the corrections; or, by sending a note requesting said change with their signature; or, by coming to the Election Commission office by August 24, to make change; or, by making the change while casting your vote during early voting. Early Voting times and hours to be announced later.

The McNairy County Election Commission does not discriminate on the basis of disability. If there are questions about needed accommodations in the voting process call 645-6432.

The McNairy County Election Commission is located in the basement of the courthouse and is open all weekdays, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. For further information on qualifying for office, voter registration or other question pertaining to the election process call 645-6432.
