Prime Care hopes to be able to complete its move to its new Selmer facility by Sept. 1, according to Dr. Jim King, one of the physicians in the practice.

The new facility will be located on East Ct. Ave. in the old Valu-Max building.

King believes they are on track to meet the deadline.

Last year, King told the Independent Appeal that the reason for the move is that Prime Care had outgrown its present building and needs a different floor design as the practice changes into a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH).

King said the new facility will offer extended hours, more physical therapy, a pharmacy and an optometrist.

The optometrist will be Dr. Andrea Mitchell and King said they are still negotiating with a pharmacist and a sub-specialist.

King said last year that the transition to PCMH had already begun as they moved to same-day appointments and the
fast track program.

Under same-day appointments, Prime Care tries to see everyone the same day they call for an appointment.

Fast track allows patients with minor problems to get in and out of the doctor’s office in 30 minutes.

King also said they are planning to focus on preventative care such as immunizations and cancer screenings.

The practice will continue to offer already existing services such as acute and chronic care, minor surgical procedures, preventative services, lab, X-Ray and physical therapy.

According to King, physical therapy is a good example of the need for floor plan changes.

“We plan to have a larger and better designed area. Nacole Bradley, Prime Care’s physical therapist, does a great job but the present space and design limits what she needs to do for our patients. We plan to expand and add other healthcare services based on patients’ needs and financial feasibility,” he said.
