McGill served a 30-day sentence and Chartier a ten-day sentence for violating a court order requiring that they change the name of their church, which they have refused to do, saying it would violate their religious beliefs. The copyright suit was brought by the national Seventh Day Adventist Church, which wanted them to be incarcerated until they changed the name.
