McNairy County FCE Summer Celebration

Joan Bewell shows off her new quilt that she won. This quilt was made by many dedicated and hardworking FCE members. To win this beautiful queen size quilt anyone could purchase tickets to be put in the drawing held at Stantonville’s Summer Celebration.

The Stantonville FCE Club hosted the Countywide FCE meeting on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Community Center. “Life’s A Picnic” was the chosen theme with artistic decorations provided throughout the center. Deborah Holland, Stantonville FCE President, gave a warm welcoming address. Ricky Mathenia, UT Extension Agent and County Director, spoke about the importance of the three FCE Clubs to McNairy County and about the talented new Family and Consumer Science Agent, Schancey Chapman. Diane Uher, McNairy County FCE President, briefly spoke about the proposed Bylaws each attending member received and gave a special thank you to the Bylaws Committee and the Extension Office members, Ricky Mathenia, Connie Weatherford and Schancey Chapman, for all their hard work for the FCE clubs. All members brought various delicious dishes for the potluck luncheon and no one left hungry. Gloria Coln was recognized for winning the FCE Western Region “Best of the Best” Award for her outstanding McNairy County Volunteer activities. Bill and Tommye Webb were greatly missed this year and the members signed get well cards to send to them. The Enjoyable entertainment was provided by Tommy Ross, a family storyteller, and David Clark, a wonderful singer.
