Rising freshman Bobcat Chase Smith anticipates the pitch against the Tigers.

The Adamsville Redbirds hosted their Out-of-School Baseball Spectacular last week from Thursday, June 2 to Saturday, June 4 at McNairy Central and Adamsville high schools.

The McNairy Central Bobcats took two hard hits on the first day against Bolivar, 1-7, and Southside, 0-4, before defeating Scotts Hill, 10-4, on the second day.

Austin Gafford was the starting pitcher in the game against Scotts Hill. This was Gafford’s first outing as a hurler following an arm injury. He held Scotts Hill to zero runs in the first.

At bat, Gafford started up the first inning with an in-field home run. Blake Chandler was brought home from third base by Tyler Wells who knocked one out of the park. The first finished 3-0 in favor of the Bobcats.

Gafford brought Clay Dancer home with a triple hit in the bottom of the second and set the score at 5-0.

Lefty Chase Smith came in as a relief pitcher in the top of the third.

Dakota Roden hit a double in the bottom of the third. Wells batted in Roden with his own double, then Wells came home off a sacrifice bunt from Matt Chandler.

Dancer topped off the inning with a double that brought in two more additional runs.

With a scoreless fourth inning, Scotts Hill made one final attempt, marking up four runs in the top of the fifth. Dancer came in to close the game from the mound.

The Bobcat finale was played Saturday afternoon with a Bobcat win over Chester County by a score of 11-1, while Adamsville played in the championship matchup against Southside.
