Nathan Howell, a 2011 graduate of McNairy Central High School signed on to be an East Central Community College (ECCC) Warrior on Saturday, June 4.
ECCC soccer coach Kenneth Thompson has given Howell an opportunity to further his education with a soccer scholarship.
“I’m going to miss the team and Coach Cook,” said Nathan Howell. “They have helped me out in so many ways. I can’t wait to start the next step as a warrior, but I will always be a Bobcat.”
Located approximately four hours away from McNairy County in Decatur, Miss., Howell’s dedicated family will travel for games.
Nathan is the son of James and Tammy Howell, grandson of Rosetta Mills and the late Dewey Mills, and Joan and Eldridge Brown and Bill and Deloris Howell.
“James and I are very proud of Nathan and the Bobcat soccer team,” said Tammy Howell.
“We are especially grateful to Coach Nick Cook for all his hard work. He sees the talent on the team and instills in them the desire to win.”
In this year alone, the 5’8’’ forward/midfielder helped MCHS advance to the state semifinals, was awarded All-District, Offensive Player of the Year, and a Most Valuable Player team award.
“Nathan is without question the quickest player I have ever coached,” said Nick Cook.
“His talents and effort should serve his new team well as he moves on to the next level.
He has grown a lot as person over the past four seasons, and we’re all excited to see what the future has in store for him.”
