Local TSSAA recognition

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has state records recorded on local individuals and teams of McNairy County.

Adamsville’s Josh Carroll was named Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Lineman of the Year in 2009.

McNairy Central’s Tommy Estes received Individual Champion of golf in 1969 at Harpeth Hills with a score of 150. Bobcat Fred Wyke was awarded 300 Meter Low Hurdles Champion of 1987 in boys’ track with a score of 39.8.

Selmer’s Marilyn Gilchrist was named Most Valuable Player in girls’ basketball in 1974.

In 1951 McNairy Central boys’ basketball made it to state runner-up with a score of 57-61 in Nashville. The very next year they came back and won state in Memphis with a final of 63-47 and a season record of 34-2.

With only a three point deficit in 1974 the McNairy Central Lady Bobcats took team runner-up at 47-50 in Jackson.

Adamsville Cardinal Basketball team made runner-up in 1995 in Murfreesboro with a final score of 70-60 and a record of 29-4.

At Engle Stadium in 1995, the Adamsville baseball team took runner-up in Chattanooga with a final of 3-8.

Ramer boys’ basketball was team champions in 1932 in Knoxville with an almost undefeated record of 25-1.
