For the first time in over a decade, the head coaching position for the Adamsville Cardinal Baseball Team is vacant.

Steven Lambert, who coached the Cardinals from 2000 to the end of the 2012 season, submitted his letter of resignation a little over two weeks ago.

The decision, Lambert said, was made in February before the start of the 2012 season, but he had considered calling it quits even before then.

Lambert cited several reasons for ending his tenure as Cardinal coach with the most important being the need to spend more time with his family.
