By Amanda Lowrance
The Adamsville Lady Cardinals pulled off a 7-3 win over the Madison Lady Mustangs on Monday, April 25, with five runs in the top of the seventh.
The Lady Cards came out in the first with two runs and then went on a dry streak for five innings.
“Poor base running and not getting hits with runners in scoring position really hurt us,” said Coach Todd McGee.
Madison scored two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. When Adamsville regained the lead in the seventh the Lady Mustangs couldn’t pull anything off.
Leading hitters for AHS were Bailey Wicker 2-5, Brittany Lambert 3-4, Danielle Plunk 1-3, Corrie Hill 2-3, Whitney Wrzeniewski 1-4, Anna Johnson 2-4, and Amanda Krenson 1-1.
Lambert hit two doubles and one triple and Hill and Johnson each hit a double. Samantha Oaks was the winning pitcher, holding Madison to only four hits.
With the win, the Lady Cards held a record of 8-15-1 for the season.
