AHS sophomore-to-be Amron Forsythe recently attended a bowling camp administered by the Vanderbilt University coaching staff and four Lady Commodore bowlers.

The two-day event took place May 7 and 8 at Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, which is also the Commodore bowling squad’s home venue.

Thirty-five bowlers, both male and female, from Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and Illinois attended the camp.

After registration and introductions, the camp really got down to basics. Many various aspects of bowling were addressed, including: stretching and warm-up; proper set-up; approach; ball release; spare shooting; posting shots; balance at the line; spare split shooting; diet/fitness; and ball fit measurement.

Each camper was individually videotaped and their strengths and weaknesses critiqued.

Amron said that the camp was the most productive time she has ever spent in a bowling center.

It also fulfilled a dream of hers as she very much wants to attend Vanderbilt University after her high school career is over and bowl for the Lady Commodores.
