Last Thursday, James D. Kirk, 52, of Pocahontas was ejected from a 1996 Oldsmobile Bravado while traveling alone on Steadman Road in Selmer.

According to Highway Patrolman Kennie Lamberth, the vehicle was traveling west on Steadman Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, over corrected to the left and began to yaw. The vehicle overturned on the roadway close to 996 Steadman Road striking a mail box and a ditch.

McNairy Regional EMS responded and treated Kirk at the scene. Selmer Police Officer Lynn Ingle stated Kirk was standing beside the vehicle upon his arrival. Lamberth reported Kirk was an insulin dependent diabetic who was transferred for treatment at McNairy Regional.

According to Pamela Roberts, CEO of MRH, Kirk was treated and released. Kirk was  also treated at Jackson Madison General Hospital last Friday and discharged the same day according to the office of marketing and public relations.

Kirk was charged with a DUI and failure to drive within lane. There has been no arrest to date, according to Lamberth.
