CONFIRMED DEATH IN STANTONVILLE PALLET FACTORY
|
| By RUSSELL INGLE Staff Writer Approximately 20 fire trucks, tankers and dozens of firefighters representing McNairy and Hardin Counties responded to a major structure fire on Dennie Barber Road in Stantonville at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday. For more than three hours the fire fighters battled the blaze. One firefighter said the flames shot at least 50-75 feet in the air at times. Tankers dumped water in make shift containers to keep fire trucks supplied. When they ran out, tankers would refill at fire hydrants along Highway 142. The fire was finally brought under control between 5:30 and 6 p.m. McNairy County Sheriff Ricky Roten confirmed that one person died in the fire, but would not release a name prior to confirmation. “There will be an autopsy performed to confirm who the person is,” Roten said. “Until we know for sure, we cannot release any information.” Sheriff Roten said the state fire marshals office would be involved in the investigation. McNairy County Emergency Management Director Rudy Moore said it would take several days to sort through the debris and begin to piece together what actually happened. “I think it will take little while to determine what actually caused the fire,” Moore said as he watched firefighters battle the blaze. “This was a big fire, with a lot of damage. It will take some time I’m sure.” 4-Wheeler Crash Kills Adamsville Man A 4-wheeler crashed claimed the life of an Adamsville man last Sunday, according to report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The report states that Adamsville resident Peyton Chambers, 38, was driving south on Federal Road, about five miles south of Shiloh, when he ran off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole.
