GE helps local students

The local GE plant has provided significant help for the agriculture students at McNairy Central High School.  This spring the management at the local General Electric plant wanted to improve the landscape around the buildings.  They saw an opportunity to provide a “hands-on” learning experience for the students at McNairy Central.  The students of Mr. Rod Barnes’ landscape class and greenhouse class inspected the site, designed several landscaping options, presented them to the GE personnel, and installed the landscape renovations they had planned.  GE’s generosity provided the students an opportunity to put into practice what they had been learning in their classes.  This type of community partnership enriches the educational experiences of our local students.  Mr. Barnes expresses his gratitude and looks forward to working with the personnel at GE in the future.
