Last Sunday Adamsville welcomed Miss USA runner-up Ashley Durham home during a reception from 1-3 p.m. at the Marty.

Mayor David Leckner, along with City Commissioners Dwana Pusser-Garrison and Matt Wood presented to Durham a sign that will be posted in Adamsville declaring it as the “Home of Ashley Durham Miss Tennessee Teen USA 2006, Miss Tennessee USA 2011, 1st Runner-up Miss USA 2011.”

Following this presentation, Durham signed photographs and took pictures with the many attendees of the reception.

Also at the reception were tables with memorabilia from Durham’s pageant, magazines in which she had posed for the cover, and her various pageant dresses.

Also in attendance were State Representative Vance Dennis and Senator Dolores Gresham.  Dennis and Gresham presented Ashley with a proclamation they had sponsored congratulating Ashley on all her hard work and accomplishments.

“One of the perks of this job is being able to recognize those outstanding individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty and represent our state really well,” said State Representative Vance Dennis.

Durham was thrilled at the turnout at the event and at the feeling of being home.

Durham stated, “It’s going great.  There have been so many people here, a lot more than I expected.

“It’s nice to come home and see all this support and come back to the people who knew me before I was Miss Tennessee and loved me before all that,” said Durham

Durham was very appreciative of the work done by those who helped prepare for the event.

“I haven’t been home in a very long time.  It’s kind of surreal to finally be here.  It’s really overwhelming in a good way that the community center looks so beautiful, and all these people are here to see me.  It’s so flattering.  And I have this [sign] now, and that’s just incredible,” Durham said.

Event Coordinator Dwana Pusser-Garrison also saw the event as a success.

“I think it is a wonderful day,” said Pusser-Garrison. “I’m so glad we were able to pull this off for Ashley and make it a celebration for her coming home.  We’re very blessed.  We couldn’t be prouder of Ashley.”
