Coy Elam is Manager of the Year for West Tennessee Healthcare
West Tennessee Healthcare announces that Coy Elam with Bolivar General Hospital has been selected as the 2011 Manager of the Year. Each year West Tennessee Healthcare solicits nominations for the Manager of the Year award. The award is presented to a Manager who has made the most significant contribution(s) to the system by enhancing the delivery of healthcare and/or other services provided by West Tennessee Healthcare. This year’s recipient epitomizes the word leader. Elam was nominated for their resourcefulness, compassion, and dedication. Some words used to describe her are: efficient, fair, respected, loyal, honest, and invested in her employees and the hospital.
For 20 years, Elam has worn many hats and done many jobs. Currently, she is responsible for the day to day operations as Director of Materials Management. Her responsibilities also include supervising six employees in the Environmental Services department. Within her role as Bolivar General Hospital’s director of Materials Management, she contains costs in every possible way. Cost of equipment and supplies are purchased at the lowest possible price after much research and dealing. Supplies are well maintained and a cost effective inventory is maintained. The cost savings that she has implemented over the years for Bolivar General Hospital and West Tennessee Healthcare is remarkable.
Elam is very family centered. She comes from a large family that is very important to her. She also understands the importance of quality healthcare because her daughter has been a diabetic since a very young age. Elam is active in her church and her community. She has been involved in Relay for Life, the American Heart Association, and various other endeavors. She has also been active in the Tennessee Hospital Association and was a graduate of Leadership Hardeman County.
Coy and her husband Danny R. reside in Selmer, TN. They have a daughter, Dana Jones. Coy is the daughter of the late C.E. and Stella Goodrum.
