County baseball players named to All-West Tenn. Second Team and Honorable Mention

Second Team Honorable Mentions. McNairy Central players Blake Chandler and Eric Moore were selected as honorable mentions from the Bobcats’ roster as well.
In addition to Bradley Melton, who was earlier named to the first team All-West Tenn. squad by the Jackson Sun, one more Cardinal was recently honored by being named to the Jackson Sun’s second team while five made honorable mention for their efforts this past season.

Josh Chappell was named to the second team for his excellent sophomore season. The pitcher/first baseman hit .395 in 31 games with 8 home runs and 26 RBIs in 76 official at bats. Chappell scored 29 runs, had 30 hits, 7 doubles and 1 triple. Chappell also had 18 walks, 2 stolen bases and a slugging percentage of .829 while chipping in with 2 wins on the mound.
Named honorable mentions were recently graduated Will Erwin, rising seniors Drew Griswell, Jalen Kendall and Hunter McSwain, along with rising junior John Reed Odom.
Second baseman Erwin completed an excellent Cardinal career with a .381 batting average in 32 games. Erwin had 37 hits and scored 43 runs. Will smacked 2 home runs and added 3 double, 3 triples and 21 RBIs. Erwin led AHS in stolen bases with 18.
Griswell hit .322 in 32 games with 18 runs, 28 hits, 11 RBIs and 6 doubles. Drew added 13 walks and 3 stolen bases while picking up 3 wins on the mound.
Kendall hit .333 in 31 games while scoring 25 runs and driving in 23. Jalen managed 25 hits, 5 doubles, 2 triples and 2 home runs. Kendall was second on the team in stolen bases with 11. Jalen posted 3 victories while pitching for the Cards.
McSwain batted .296 in 32 games with 24 hits, 11 runs and 17 RBIs. Hunter added 7 doubles and had 4 stolen bases while playing excellent defense behind the plate.
Odom had a .293 average in 32 games. He had 24 base hits, 23 RBIs and crossed the plate 22 times. John Reed managed 8 doubles, 1 triple and smacked 3 homers. Odom was third on the team with 8 steals. He also added 2 saves while pitching for the Cardinals.
Two McNairy Central players were also honored by the Jackson Sun.
Senior Bobcat Eric Moore departs from McNairy Central High School with an honorable mention from the Jackson Sun All-West TN awards along with soon-to-be senior bobcat Blake Chandler.
