•Shiloh SCV Camp Meeting
Hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. at 6 p.m. ($5) and program at 7 p.m. Tom Parsons of the Corinth & Shiloh National Parks will give the program. He will tell us the history and interesting facts about the UDC monument of Shiloh Park. Come and bring a friend.
•Stantonville Fish Fry
The Stantonville Fire Dept. will be having a fish fry at the Civic Center on Friday, from 4-7 p.m. Fish, chicken strips and popcorn shrimp will be served. Carry out available. $10 per adult and $6 per half order. All proceeds go to the Fire Dept.
The Mary Lou Johnson Foundation will be having it’s annual Scholarship Banquet at McNairy Central High School on Aug. 6, at 6:00 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Eric Robinson. Tickets are $15.00/single and $25.00 couple. This year’s scholarship recipients are Ms. Shemika Kirk/AHS and Ms. Macaria Surratt/MCHS. Tickets may be purchased from any committee member or scholarship recipient. For more information call 610-1881.
•“Back To School Fest”
McNairy County Community Advisory Board will sponsor their “Back To School Fest” at the Selmer Community Center on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 10 am – 12 noon. The “Back To School Fest” is for all kids, parents, and families in McNairy County. This event will have FREE school supplies, food, and entertainment for all ages. The school supply give-away will be basic supplies for all school aged children, but a parent must accompany child to receive these FREE items. Bethel Springs Rosenwald Community Center is hosting an event including hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, games and a dance for all special needs individuals from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Bethel Springs Community Center. Michael Richerson from Special Needs Baseball Foundation will be there for fall baseball sign-ups along with some of the players.
•Plunk Family Reunion
Finger Community Center, Saturday, August 6 - BBQ provided with donations at door - covered dish meal - descendants of George Plunk (Son of Jacob Plunk from North Carolina) invited.
•Huge Benefit Yard & Bake Sale
For community member in medical need. Yard sale will be outside at Selmer Moose Lodge with several family members Bake sale will be inside. Everyone is welcome.
•Lawton Spaghetti Dinner
There will be a Spaghetti Dinner Fund Raiser for Lawton Civic Center Saturday August 6 at 5:00 Doors open at 5 plates will be $ 5.00 including dessert please come out and join us for this annual event.
Ashe Family Reunion
Eastview Civic Center at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at 12:00. Bring a covered dish.
•Living Healthy With Diabetes
Selmer Senior Center is partnering with local health care agencies to provide a free 4 week program for all diabetics, their family members and caregivers. The first class will be held Tues., Aug. 9 at 5:30 at the Selmer Senior Center located at 230 N. 5th Street. The following classes will be held August 16, 23 and 30 at 5:30. Classes will include lots of free information, education and presentations by a local doctor, registered dietician, dental hygienist, pharmacist and registered nurse. Course will be taught at Selmer 1st United Methodist Church (Hwy 64W) on Fri., Aug. 12, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. and Sat., Aug. 13, 8:30 a.m. until finished.

Anyone born since Jan. 1, 1969 must complete. Ages 9 years and older may attend.
