A McNairy jury found Jeremy J. Edick guilty of the felony offenses of the Rape of a Child, two counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery and Exploitation of a Minor by Electronic Means on Monday, according to District Attorney General Mike Dunavant.
Edick was indicted and charged with these offenses in February 2011.
According to the charges, he allegedly repeatedly victimized a child when she was 7 and 8 years old between 2006 and 2008.
“The District Attorney's Office would like to thank Investigator Robert Hitchborn of the McNairy County's Sheriff's Department for their excellent police work in investigating and arresting the Defendant in this case, and would further like to recognize Assistant District Attorney General Bob Gray, who did an outstanding job in preparing and presenting this disturbing case to the jury,” Dunavant said.
Edick faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years for the Rape of a Child Conviction and 8-12 years for each of the other convictions.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 22, 2011 in the McNairy County Circuit Court.
