The Pastor’s Wife, a television movie about the Mary Winkler case, has been cast, according to the Internet Movie Database.
The movie, which is slated to appear on Lifetime Television during its 2011-12 season, is based on the Mary Winkler trial.
Rose McGowan will play Mary Winkler in the movie. McGowan is most famous for playing Paige Matthews in the television series Charmed, which appeared on the WB Network.
McGowan also appeared in the Scream movie and played Ann Margret in the Elvis television movie.
She guest starred in Nip/Tuck.
Canadian actor Michael Shanks will play Matthew Winkler. His most prominent role was Daniel Jackson in the Sci Fi Network series Stargate SG-1 and several movies based on the series.
He also guest-starred in CSI:Miami, 24, the Commish, Stargate Atlantis, Smallville and Supernatural.
Carrie Genzel, also Canadian, will play Elizabeth Rice. She guest-starred in ABC Network series FlashForward and Castle, as well Beverly Hills 90210 and Married with Children on the Fox Network. In addition, she was in Picket Fences and Stargate SG-1.
Genzel also appeared in such daytime soap operas as All My Children, the Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives.
Dan Winkler will be played by Eric Keenleyside, a third Canadian cast member.
Keenleyside has appeared in Fringe, the 2004 Walking Tall movie, the King of Queens, the Interpreter and Final Destination 2 and the X-Files
Canadian Norma Bailey is directing the movie. She is credited with directing 40 projects, including the Devil’s Teardrop and the Christmas Hope.
The producers for the movie are Jonas Goodman and Harvey Kahn. Goodman has produced We Don’t Live Here Anymore, Breakup and Out of Line. In addition to producing We Don’t Live Here Anymore, Kahn has produced Beyond Sherwood Forest, The Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon and Meltdown.
The production company Vancouver-based Front Street Pictures.
Selmer Mayor David Robinson told the Independent Appeal that one of the producers told him the movie will be filmed entirely in British Columbia, and not in Selmer, as reported earlier.
He said that the representatives of the film had sent the city paperwork requesting to use the city’s seal.
Attempts to contact Lifetime Television to confirm these details have so far been unsuccessful.
