The McNairy Central soccer team added four more wins to their regular season play with games against Riverside, Adamsville, Scotts Hill, and Chester County.

The Cats went on the road Friday, April 29 for a game against the Riverside Christian Academy Knights. McNairy won 7-1.

“Riverside has had a rough season,” said Coach Nick Cook. “So we took this opportunity to give our JV guys some field time and try some player s in new positions.”

Nathan Howell scored one goal and had one assist. Juan Macias, Dakota Chandler, Regan Southern, and Josh Court had one goal each. Andrew Dunn made two goals. Matt Frye and Christian Shipman each had an assist. Goalie Tyler Henry had one out of two saves.

The very next day McNairy traveled and defeated the Adamsville Cardinals 1-0.

Chandler scored the one and only goal of the game assisted by Brandon Stricklin. Shipman had six saves holding Adamsville to nothing.

“Despite the low score, we actually played very well,” said Cook. “Shoate from Adamsville has to be the best keeper in West Tennessee. Jonathan Jones was everywhere, creating problems for Adamsville’s offense and moving the ball against their defense. Juan Macias also played both ends of the field very well.”

The Bobcats won the game against the Lions 3-0 last Thursday at Scotts Hill.

Scotts Hill had two shots on the goal that were blocked by Shipman. McNairy had 14shots, scoring three goals.

Chandler made the first goal followed by Christopher Colon with an assist by Jones. Will Glover scored the last goal at 70 minutes assisted by Dunn.

The week and season ended with a game against Chester County. This 2-1 win, placed the Bobcats in first place and gave them a bye in the first round of the districts.

The two goals were scored by Howell and Shipman protected the goal for McNairy Central, defending many shots from the Eagles.

McNairy were to play the winner of Scotts Hill and South Gibson on Tuesday,  at 6 p.m. with semi-finals and finals being held at Trinity Christian Academy today and Thursday.
