Bobcat golfers place second at Pickwick
McNairy Central High School’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams ventured to Pickwick Landing Golf Course last Thursday and came away with a second place finish against Hardin County High School and Chester County High School with a boys’ score totaling 159 and the girls’ score of 126, making their record on the day 1-1 for the boys, and 0-1 for the girls.
HCHS boys’ score totaled 154, a five stroke difference between MCHS, and HCHS girls’ finished with a 98.
The Bobcat’s top male performer of the day was Stuart Littlejohn who shot a 38. MCHS’s Kelly Beth Ernest finished with a 62 to lead the Bobcat girls.
Ernest’s teammate Valarie Jones shot a 64. Dakota Roden and Blake Chandler both shot 40’s, Jason Kirk shot 41, and Matt Chandler turned in a 42.
In their following match last Tuesday, the Bobcat golf team played host to Lexington and Madison at Selmer Country Club. At the time of print, scores for this event were not available.
MCHS Golf victorious at Chickasaw
The McNairy Central Bobcat golf team finished 2-0 in their golf match against Bolivar Central High School and Chester County High School, winning by seven strokes at Chickasaw Golf Course Aug. 8.
McNairy Central turned in a team score of 158. Bolivar Central placed second in the match with a 165 while Chester County floundered on their home course, turning in a 182.
The low score on the day belonged to Bolivar’s Jack Wilson who shot a 36. Top Bobcat performers were Dakota Roden and Matt Chandler who both shot 39. Jason Kirk and Blake Chandler turned in 40’s while Stuart Littlejohn shot a 43.
MCHS went on to play Hardin County and Chester County the following Thursday at Pickwick Landing Golf Course.
