The town of Adamsville plans to welcome Ashley Durham, who was recently named as first runner up in the Miss USA pageant, home on July 31 at the Adamsville Community Center (The Marty).
The reception will be from 1-3 p.m. and everyone is encouraged to attend.
Refreshments will be available. Also, parents are encouraged to bring their “little princesses” out for photo opportunities with Durham. There will be a table with memorabilia from Durham’s pageants.
According to event coordinator Dwana Pusser-Garrison the Adamsville City Commission is honored to host this welcoming event for Durham.
“We are real excited about getting to honor Ashley who has represented our town and county so well and is still doing so,” said Pusser-Garrison.
“We invite everybody to come out and be a part of it,” Pusser-Garrison stated.
No one is more excited about this homecoming than Ashley Durham herself.
“It is an incredible feeling. I don’t remember the last time I was home. Someone asked me the other day if I could go anywhere in the world where would it be, I said there was nowhere I’d rather go than home to Adamsville,” Durham said.
Durham has not been to Adamsville since Easter weekend. She says that she cannot wait to see all those who have always offered their support.
“I’m excited to just see all the people, friends and family, who knew and loved me before I was Miss Tennessee,” Durham stated.
Durham describes her experience with the Miss USA competition as a once in a lifetime opportunity.
“The best way to describe the Miss USA competition is a roller coaster. You have your good times, and sometimes they run you ragged. In the end, it’s all worth it,” Durham said.
Following the Miss USA competition was no respite in Durham’s schedule. She flew immediately to Little Rock to work as a model for Timothy Bowl. She has also been to Maine, Miami, and the Bahamas.
As for the future, Durham plans to continue on her educational path.
“Right now I’m enrolled at the University of Memphis online and living in Franklin. I’m focusing on finishing up school. I’ve had a lot of opportunities, but I don’t want to rush into anything,” Durham stated.
Durham says that she is looking forward to the reception and encourages everyone to come out.
