AHS sweeps TCA

Adamsville had to rally late, but Jalen Kendall and the Cardinals got the job done at home against Trinity Christian Academy on April 10.
Adamsville 6, Trinity Christian 3
For four innings, it looked as if the Lions were going to give the Cardinals their first district loss of the year, but Adamsville rallied from down two late to steal a win from TCA.
“Showed a lot of character in this game by battling back from down 3-1,” said Cardinal head coach Steven Lambert. “They just kept swinging away until balls started falling in.”
After the Cardinals tied the game with a Kendall single that scored Kasey Hurley in the bottom of the sixth inning, Josh Chappell climbed into the driver's seat and popped the clutch, plating Kendall with a double laced to right field to give AHS a 4-3 lead. Three pitches later, Drew Griswell launched a 2-run home run into the left field trees.
Kendall, who entered in relief for Griswell in the top of the sixth, mowed down three Lion hitters in the top of the seventh to seal the deal for the Cards and pick up the win.
“Drew (Griswell) did a great job of battling TCA, scattering out 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings,” said Lambert, “and Jalen (Kendall) came in and slammed the door. The defense made some big plays too to get us to 6-0 in District 15-A.”
