AHS coach headed to Austin Peay

Nathan Reagan

Nathan Reagan, an assistant coach for Adamsville High School’s football team, was the recent recipient of a student coaching position at Austin Peay University.

“I’ll be working with the kicking specialists: Kickers, punters and place kickers,” said Reagan. “I will also be helping the staff with day-to-day operations like breaking down the opponent’s game film, breaking down  our game film, practice schedules, and installing new plays each week.”

Reagan has spent the last two years attending the University of Tennessee - Martin McNairy County Center in Selmer, and has held a position on AHS’s football coaching staff, coaching kicking specialists and linebackers, and managing Adamsville’s video operations under head coach Brandon Gray.

As a member of the Governor’s coaching staff, Reagan plans not only to expand his education in the field of criminal justice, but sees the opportunity as a doorway to expanding his knowledge on the football field as well, with his ambitions of making coaching a profession.

“Football has always been my favorite sport. I love the X’s and O’s of the game,” said Reagan. “Just sitting down to draw up plays on the board, or trying to figure out ways to stop plays.”

Reagan credited Coach Gray as being an inspiration to him, and extended his gratitude for the fortuity presented to him at Adamsville High School.

“He helped me learn a lot, not only about football, but how to treat others, and how to treat players,” said Reagan. “I would just like to thank him for everything he has done, not only for me, but for Adamsville High School football.”

Reagan will assume his position at Austin Peay on July 1, and when asked if his path after collegiate coaching would lead back to McNairy County or the surrounding area Reagan said, “the possibility exists.”
