Adamsville resident and Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) employee Robert Nowicki was killed in a crash near West Memphis, Monday.
According to TDOT spokesperson Nicole Lawrence, Nowicki’s TDOT HELP truck had pulled off to the side of I-55 in order to help a disabled semi truck, when another big rig hit both the other truck and Nowicki’s, pinning him against a wall.
Nowicki was a retired New York Police Department officer and once delivered a baby during his service with TDOT.
“It’s just a reminder of how dangerous our highways are for our workers. Everyone needs to be on their toes,” said Lawrence.
