A Worthy Cause
We go to benefits to reach out to people in need. When Jesus Christ reached out to each of us, He knew what kind of people we were, yet He died for us anyway!
But I wanted the people of McNairy County to know about a young man that we’re having a benefit for on Saturday, June 25 at 4:00 at the Chewalla Fire Department. His name is Jimbo Naylor, a logger, from Chewalla.
Steve Claunch said Jimbo has been his best friend for ten years now. He and Steve have been to many benefits & sang at several. “I’ve not seen many people that would go out of their way to help others like Jimbo does.” says Steve.
The first time we sang at a small church in Hardeman County. A man was there who had a ministry at Ronald McDonald House, once a month feeding everyone there. He would take food and cook for the people there. Jimbo felt the need to give the man our love offering to use. This is the kind of heart he has. This is a glimpse of what Jimbo is like.
But now, Jimbo is in need. He has been having some physical problems since early in 2010. He’s been having seizures & the doctors can’t pinpoint exactly what needs to be done. They have tried different medicines, but none seems to do any good, in fact, the episodes are getting more frequent. He hasn’t worked since last October & it’s getting pretty tough on Lori, his wife, who takes care of him and works full time too. They’re always there to help, for Jimbo needs someone there 24/7 to help him when the episodes hit.
He’s been to Vanderbilt a few times, to Regional Hospital in Jackson, in Selmer hospital numerous times and they’ve done what they could, but he’s still having the episodes. He’s been to Birmingham, Alabama & other places as well. He now has a chance to go to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. The Mayo Clinic specializes in finding out what’s wrong with people when no one else seems to know or be able to find out.
God has truly had His hand on Jimbo & his family as far as helping to pay his bills, but there is still room for people to help. This is why we’re having the benefit. We want to raise money for hospital & doctor bills & also to send him & his family to Arizona. Above all, we ask all the good people of McNairy County to pray for Jimbo & Lori & Jesse & Peyton.
I truly love this family & the way they have always reached out to people in need. Now, we can reach out to them! Boston Butts, chicken and bologna are being cooked to sell. If anyone wants any of these, please call 610-8302 ahead of time to let us know. Please come out & help a very worthy cause. There will be singing, cake walk, auctions & plenty of food.
If anyone has ever seen Jimbo, he’s a big ole boy to say the least! But that’s not any where close to as big as his heart! We love you and your family Jimbo.
