U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn visited Selmer Middle School last Friday in order to recognize SMS, Michie Elementary School and Ramer Elementary School for being named as Reward Schools. The schools received this distinction for being in the top five percent statewide.

Last season, the Cardinals destroyed the Lions 69-19 to improve to 3-0 in the district and clinch the championship. This year, it was much of the same as they rolled to another big victory and became the first team in West Tennessee to earn a playoff berth.

County churches unite for fundraiser to benefit Scott
A multi-location benefit for Lucas Scott, a freshman at Adamsville High School, was held last Saturday in Adamsville and Selmer. Area church and youth groups formed a coalition of sorts to put on a car wash to raise money for Scott, who is expected to make his return home soon.
