Bobcats butcher Tigers

Knocking out two wins at home, McNairy Central sent the Hardin County Tigers packing with a 52-37 victory from the Lady Bobcats and a 67-55 final by the Bobcats.

By the end of the games, both the girls’ and boys’ teams sent in their bench players in for playing time. The youngsters were glad to have the chance to accumulate stats and compete with future contenders.

Burglars hit gravel pit, make off with $15-20K in equipment

Be on the look out for anyone trying to sell copious amounts of used tools. Burglars made off with $15-$20,000 worth of equipment from Tennessee Material Corporation at Stantonville  Plant manager Kerry Stevens said the burglary occurred sometime between  6:30 p.m. last Saturday night and 6 a.m. Sunday morning.

Mustangs run wild against Cardinals

Something had to give in the matchup between two winless teams, Houston and Adamsville, last Saturday night, and it was not the Cardinals losing streak.

Adamsville lost their ninth consecutive game to get the 2011-2012 season off to a historically bad start after the 13-point defeat at the hands of the previously 0-8 Mustangs of Houston High School in Memphis.

Possible black panther sighting in Selmer

Last Friday, a reliable source in McNairy County reportedly saw a creature resembling a  black panther in the woods outside of Selmer.

The sighting occurred near McNairy Central High School.

This report, while coming from an eyewitness account from a reliable citizen, is still considered unconfirmed evidence.
