Documented by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association’s girls’ basketball records, Coach Jerry Lott of the McNairy Central Lady Bobcats has broken a record, tying for ninth spot in Most Coaching Victories in a Career.
Lott has coached since 1977 winning 699 games and soon looks to accomplish a whopping 700. Tied at 699 along with Coach Lott is Larry Lopper from Livingston Academy, who has coached since 1972, which is five additional years compared to Lott.
The overall record breaking statistics include 699 wins and 289 losses. In top ranked position is Jim Smiddy of Bradley Central and he has been coaching since 1948 with a record of 1217-206.
Congratulations to our local McNairy County coach for making such a big accomplishment and look forward to observing Lott climb the ladder in hopes to reach the number one position.
No Cardinal football player was alive the last time Adamsville played Dresden. No Cardinal football player was alive the last time Adamsville played in the state semifinals either. With a berth in the Class 2A State Championship game on the line, there is no doubt both teams will be leaving everything on the field Friday night.
The Selmer Citgo and Adamsville BP gas stations were raided by agents of the McNairy
County Drug Task Force for selling synthetic marijuana last Monday. At the Selmer location alone, more than 185 containers, packaged for individual sale, were seized with an estimated street value at more than $3,000.
These drugs, which have gained national media attention were made illegal last year in Tennessee and have been declared a “drug of concern” by the DEA, but remain legal in many states.
